Looking for quick tips to plan your next trip in Stockholm and Southern Sweden? Check out our itinerary in camper and some practical info that can be useful to inspire you in organize your travel!
Our Sweden travel camper itinerary:
Day 1: 550 km driving from Oslo to Stockholm
Night in Stockholm in Långholmen Husbilscamping (the nearest to the city center)
This short itinerary in Sweden starts from Oslo because for us was the end of our travel in camper in Southern Norway ( See the dedicated article "SOUTHERN NORWAY: 2 weeks itinerary in camper" for all the info!) before coming back in Italy
Day 2: Stockholm by bike
Night in Stockholm in Långholmen Husbilscamping (the nearest to the city center)
Day 3: 15km - Drottningholm Castle -250km - Vadstena - 65km - Gränna
Night in Gränna in Stallplats Gränna Hamn (equipped for camper)
Day 4: Visingsö Island by bike (ferry Gränna - Visingsö) -290 km - Kullen Lighthouse (Kullaberg Peninsula) - 40km -Helsingborg/Rää
Night in Rää in Rää Hamnförening Hamnplan (10, kattegattsgatan) equipped for camper
Day 5: 50km - Lund - 40km - Skanor Strand in Hamnvagen 1 ( Falsterbo Peninsula) - 35km - Trelleborg
Night in Trelleborg in Trelleborg Stallplats near the ferries harbour (equipped for camper)
Day 6 - Ferry Trelleborg- Rodstock, Germany (Stena 7.30-13.30) - 450km
Night in service area in motorway in Germany
Day 7 - 400km - Eibsee (circle path on the lake) – bavarian dinner in Grainau
Night in one of the Camping in Grainau
Day 8: 680 km back home in Pietrasanta
If you have more time, you can add some days to visit also: some of the islands in the Stockholm Archipelago, but also the Islands in the Southern Sweden: Gotland, Öland and Fårö. Very beautiful for nature lovers, it is also the last stretch of coast arriving in Norway from Southern Sweden.

STOCKHOLM
Here is a list of things not to miss in Stockholm, if you have 24h
-Gamle Stan, the vibrant heart of Stockholm with its iconic colorful houses and alleys full of shops and restaurants
-Kunglinga Slott, the royal palace. At 12.15 every day don't miss the changing of the guard!
- Stadshuset, the town hall with its tower from which you can admire a magnificent view over the city
- a boat tour through the canals
- the Vasamuseet which houses the imposing Vasa warship
Practical info
-If you plan to use public transports and see many museums you can evaluate the Stockholm Pass that include free access to transports and several attractions . For costs and info https://gocity.com/stockholm
-The best way to visit Stockholm: by bike as we have done
-Our base in Stockholm: Langholmen Hubilscamping (the nearest to the city Center )
- the last part of motorway to get into Stockholm is at payment (1.50 euro), but the payment is only automatic and there are no toll booths. Therefore, the only way is to go online to try to pay the toll in advance or wait for it to arrive home (as we did: if you pay on time, there are no surcharges).
In the rest part of Sweden, the motorways are free
- if you have time, to interrupt the travel from Oslo to Stockholm, a nice stop on the way could be Örebro Castle
DROTTNINGHOLM CASTLE
A royal residence just outside Stockholm immersed in a huge park and declared a Unesco heritage site.
Consider an entire morning to see the interiors, take a relaxing walk in the surrounding park and watch the changing of the guard at 12!

-toll parking for cars and campers just outside the castle. As an alternative you can arrive to Drottningholm Castle by boat from the Center of Stockholm
VADSTENA
A picturesque Swedish village dominated by an imposing Renaissance castle overlooking the Lake Vattërn… a lovely place to spend a few hours and watch the sunset over the lake!
VISINGSO ISLAND
A small island in the Vattërn Lake (14km long and just 3km wide) where life goes slowly and time seems to have stopped… wheat fields, apple trees, colorful houses, free horses… enjoy it slowly by bike!
Practical info
- Visingsö is reachable in approx 30min by ferry from Gränna. Gränna port is walking distance from the parking equipped for camper (Stallplats Gränna Hamn)
- the ferries are frequent, especially from mid- May to Mid -Semptember (timetable at the Gränna port)
-the best way to visit Visingsö is by bike (you can rent it on the island or bring your bike on the ferry)
-ferry ticket roundtrip per person+bike: 8 euro
KULLEN LIGHTHOUSE (KULLABERG PENINSULA)
Kullen is the oldest lighthouse (founded 1561) and also the most powerful lighthouse in Scandinavia, overlooking one of the world's most heavily traveled waters.
The Kullen Lighthouse is situated 3km from the harbour town of Mölle on the Kullaberg Peninsula, criss-crossed by numerous hiking trails with lovely views of the cliffs.
HELSINGBORG
We are at the closest point to Denmark: Helsingborg is only separated from the Danish city of Helsingør by a 4 km strait.
We had been to Helsingør, during our ontheroad in Denmark a few years ago!
LUND
A lively university town, pleasant to spend half a day.
Hightlights: the characteristic streets with half-timbered houses, the cathedral and the botanical garden
SKANOR STRAND
Skanor Strand is Nordic beach with colorful cabins and crystal clear sea nearby Malmö… this place is lovely and perfect to spend few relaxing hours and walking on the promontory! From here you can also see the famous Øresund bridge (long approx. 16km) which connects Sweden and Denmark.
EIBSEE (Germany)
A lake with crystal clear water immersed in a breathtaking mountainous landscape .. we are in the Bavarian Alps just a few km from Austria! The best way to explore it? The pleasant ring walk that runs along it between beautiful views and reflections. There is also a cable car near the lake which takes you up to the Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain We were there at the end of summer, but it's perfect also in spring or for admiring the foliage in autumnor it is suggestive icy ❄️in winter! Practical info: - our base : Grainau (plenty of hotel and camping) - 4km from the lake - Camper are not allowed in the parking nearest the lake. So to reach the lake, you need to leave the camper in one of the Parking farthest and take the path in the wood or from Grainau, take the bus.
